How to get started

1

Contact us

Tell us what help you need by calling us, emailing, or filling in our booking form. After that we'll reach out to you and go through your needs with you and draw up a care plan. We will then begin finding the right carer or helper for you.

2

First visit

Once we have found the right helper for you, we will arrange your first visit. During this visit, you can meet your helper, go through the tasks and preferences together, and agree when regular visits will begin. The introductory visit is free of charge. You can also start straight away without a separate introductory visit.

3

Service begins

We implement the care plan according to your wishes. Visits can be arranged on a regular agreed schedule, or the next visit can be agreed at the end of each previous one. The content and schedule of visits can be adjusted at any time. Hemby has no long-term or binding contracts, so you can stop the service whenever you like. One-off visits are also possible.

“My mother was our very first client – now we help hundreds of seniors”

I founded Hemby because I wanted better everyday support for my own mother and the opportunity for her to remain at home for as long as possible. I want Hemby to offer that same opportunity to other people’s mothers and fathers.

Through Hemby, I hope to bring a positive attitude, solution-focused thinking and the use of technology to the home care sector – and most importantly, more heart.

“My father gets a weekly visit from a familiar and reliable Hemby Helper who helps with shopping, laundry, or just keeps him company. For me, it’s a huge relief since I’m rarely in his hometown. I also get a weekly update on his well-being, which gives me peace of mind."

Absolutely wonderful service for my parents who are approaching 90 and are still trying to live at home. As a daughter myself, I don't stretch myself in every direction, so this is truly worth its weight in gold for both me and them. The person who helps us is worth 10+.

Frequently asked questions

You can book help by calling us at 08081607399 (freephone number), emailing us at info@hemby.co.uk or by filling in our booking form here.

We aim to respond to enquiries as quickly as possible. Our phone line is open from 8am to 3pm on weekdays. If you can't get hold of us we'll respond within 24 hours on weekdays.

Prices from £29/hr. Minimum visit 1.5 hours. See full pricing details here.

You don't need to know exactly what you need from the start. Our services have no lock-in, so you can get to know the helper gradually and adjust the level of support flexibly as your situation changes.

To ensure your loved one gets the best possible support at home, we'll always help you find the right combination of services and visit frequency.

Yes. We will recommend a suitable helper, but after the introductory visit you are welcome to request a change if needed. We aim to match the person and helper as well as possible, so do let us know if you have any specific preferences.

Our helpers, carers, and cleaners are all carefully selected through a thorough interview and induction process, ensuring they are committed to supporting you in everyday life.

Yes. We assign you your own dedicated helper, who over time becomes a familiar and trusted presence in everyday life. In exceptional circumstances such as illness or holidays, a cover helper will step in.

If your care needs are greater, we can put together a small team of 2–4 helpers — but they will always be the same familiar faces.

As much as you need. The most common arrangement is a 2-hour visit once a week, but we can also help daily if needed.

Almost anything you might need help with at home — from doing the laundry and taking out the bins to helping with the wardrobe. Or running errands at the pharmacy or supermarket. We also provide companionship, a chat over a cup of tea, or help with technology.

We also help with returning home from hospital, carer's respite, and one-off visits. We additionally offer a home cleaning service.

If you're wondering whether we could help you, feel free to get in touch via our website and ask.
